Podgorica is considering introduction of Electrical and combined busses in the city public transportation, due to air congestion. Podgorica currently has 109 busses on 29 lines, that are old and not suitable for public transportation of the city that wants to be ecological.
Due to climate in Montenegro, plan is to join electrical and combined busses on gas, or other alternative source of energy, to decrease congestion in the city. There is an open issue of public transportation rent-ability, and lowering the operational price of energy source, will help to provide surplus in public transportation company. City of Podgorica is also considering to help Public transportation company on lines that are not rent-able.
