Aleksa's Book Review: Corporate Argumentation in Takeover Bids

Although it sounds like dry office-talk with some Ben Shapiro mixed in, this book is actually the best resource on the subject of corporate takeovers that I've had the pleasure of reading. It explains the reason why companies even consider mergers, acquisitions and takeovers as well as what those even are.

It goes into the types of bids by company, level of aggressiveness and financial/legal juju that goes into the whole process. I would definitely say I learned a lot about the regulators that peek into the acquisition process and the absolutely massive differences between them, which causes all sorts of unholy ruckus.

My personal favourite parts of the book included the attempt at takeover of Cadbury by Kraft foods, as it exemplified the elements of any takeover in near-textbook fashion which helped with grasping the intricacies of the process. Naturally, true understanding comes only through experience, but reading this book is a great stepping stone.

The only itch this book caused in me is being too long without going into the depths and specifics of various takeover stories, focusing instead on the principles and book-knowledge without application. By no means does this detract from the absolute excellence found within.
