As an Entrepreneur, you have to make a lot of decisions. Some of them are easy and some of them not so much. Like if you are hiring for a key position in your company.
That's a tuff one because you need to make sure that the person you are hiring is "the one". Today I'm gonna give you an interview tip that most great entrepreneurs use to recruit their Top staff.
Make a Difference Test
To make a difference test you need to make them do something out of the norm. For example, Ask the person you are interviewing to meet you at 4:00 am.
If they make excuses, you don't wanna hire them. If they can't go the extra-mile before they get hired, they won't do it when they got hired.
But if the person says: Sure I'll be there! You say actually, let's not do that, let's meet at 9:00 am at this place. Remember, It's a test!
Another great test you can make is to ask him to get you an unusual thing, like the sports section of a newspaper, for example. Some of them will say: "Why do you need that?". If that's the attitude you get now, imagine what's the attitude when you ask him to do something for your company.
But let's say they show up, with whatever you asked for. That's not the person you want to hire either. Why? It means they only did what you asked them to do. For a key position you would want someone who can think, and go the extra-mile.
Final test
When they show up at the interview, with whatever you asked them to bring, let's suppose it's the newspaper, put the newspaper on top of the candidate's chair and tell them to sit.
If the person sits on the chair with the newspaper still on it, chances are, they'll do things behind your back. But if they remove the newspaper before they sit, that's the person you want to hire. Because they think like "I'm not gonna sit in this newspaper, ha asked me to bring it so it must be important."
It's a common newspaper but if they care about it they care about everything.
It Tell's You a Lot More
This difference tests can tell you more about one person than reading their resume.
When you do a "normal job interview" and people sometimes they sound like they are awesome, why do you think they're so good at interviews? it's because that's all they do.
They are not good doing the job they are good doing the interviews. That's why they sound perfect and always know what to say.
