5 things millennials can do right now to turn that miserable work-frown upside down.
Figure out whether you give a shit.
Studies show that people who agree with their company's purpose are happier and more motivated at work. These employees have been shown to report - more than any other factor - that: My work has special meaning & this is not "just a job".
Learn Something New.
Be curious and inquisitive at work. Escape the day-to-day monotony by developing new skill-sets. Work in marketing? That doesn't mean that you can't learn about database development from your buddy Leonard over in IT. Studies show that learning and development have a positive impact on employee satisfaction.
Engage Engage Engage
71% of Millennials are not engaged or are actively disengaged at work. 71%!! Count 10 of your millennial coworkers; 7 of them are probably just screwing around on FB all day instead of working. Don't take part in this negative statistic. Lay off the glorious web and focus on the things you are working on and the people you are working with. This will provide you with a better overall sense of accomplishment which will make you happier.
Leave work at work.
It might be hard to do, especially since the line separating work and life has become so blurred, but make a conscious effort to disconnect from the office when you are not there. Those emails will be right there waiting for you in the morning. A positive work-life balance is ranked among the highest contributors to happy employees.
Quit
Leaving your job is not the end of the world. If you are truly unhappy at work remember that you can always leave. Go pursue something else. You can be a professional sun bather, or expert channel surfer. Whatever floats your boat. There is a benefit to doing this: studies show that people that often switch jobs earn about 50% more in their lifetime.
