There are a number of problems facing small businesses in the United States today and among them are the difficulty to hire and find qualified applicants, another is the difficulty in running the business while navigating pandemic related restrictions.
As well, there is the concern that small businesses are paying more for wages, with at least 41% saying they are seeing a rise in cost for wages. This is going to increase their business operation costs and might come as a shock to some who aren't ready for the change.
Small businesses are starting to make their way back to seeing pre pandemic sales and recovering from the pandemic but there is still a lot of progress to be made after the damage that had been inflicted and is still ongoing.
Now, a number of small businesses are getting aggressive with their hiring tactics even if it means giving much higher wages than usual, or promising to pay off education.
It is clear that workers have the bargaining power these days and that might be why so many are done with low paying jobs like entry level customer service positions where so many say that they are mistreated by both customers and management.
Even those positions are also increasing wages in an effort to attract more interest from applicants.
Businesses today are facing those pressures to increase wages, trying to compete with the increase in demand for at-home positions, it might mean that some small businesses won't be able to afford to compete and we could still lose more small businesses as a result.
Money has always been one of the top priorities for employees but now flexibility is even more important for people today as well. Those jobs that cannot offer that flexibility are going to need to offer something else to make up for it and that might mean more money for employees to get them interested.
