First-time Gun Owners Make Up 40 Percent of All Gun Purchases Last Year

Gun sales have been increasing all around the country, and in some states they've been seeing record numbers more than others.

At least 5 different states have purchased one third of all the guns bought in 2020.

Gun sales grew 60 percent last year compared to 2019

Almost half of the guns that were sold were sold in Southern states and there were many first time buyers.

At least 40 percent of gun purchases in 2020 came from first-time gun owners and this trend meant that gun shops around the country were running short of supply for firearms and ammunition.

Alabama, Wyoming, Montana, Alaska, and Idaho

These were the 5 states that saw more gun purchases than other regions. In those regions it was between 12-15 guns sold for every 100 adults.

With rumors of more critical gun regulations to potentially come from the Biden administration just recently, this is only likely to push more to their local gun shops to look at purchasing before things might change.
