Going To Camp To Become Famous

in business •  7 years ago

Camping is an activity that is beloved by millions of people and in 2016 it's estimated that more than 45 million people went camping in the US alone. We can expect that even more people will go camping in 2017, as it's been estimated that at least 13 million households throughout the US have said that they plan to camp more this year than they had in 2016.

Millennials are being credited with fueling the trend; they allegedly make up at least 38 percent of the active camping households in the United States.

One survey that was conducted just recently by AP-NORC, suggests that roughly 43 percent of Americans don't plan on taking any vacation this summer in 2017. The survey found that the most pressing reason that people weren't opting to getaway this summer was because of the cost, followed by issues with getting time off of work, or simply not wanting to be away from work.

But despite some saying that they might not get the time off this summer, Americans are seen camping in record numbers. Since 2014, the percentage of people who report going camping at least 3x or more every year, has increased by at least 36 percent.

It's evident that camping is one of the most popular recreational outdoor activities for millions of people in the United States, and for millions more around the world. Several years ago it was suggested that the global camping market would hit $5 billion by 2019 and the US camping market has already surpassed that; estimated to be worth at least 7 billion.

That 7 billion+ figure includes revenue that is generated from RV parks, campgrounds, as well as sales from camping equipment.

Along with the increase in popularity for camping, you can also find an increase in the variety of different camp experiences that are available today on the market.

If you take the time, it seems that you can find a wide range of outdoor camping experiences that differ from traditional camping, many of which are specifically tailored to a particular theme.

There are day camps, non-profit camps, special needs camps, faith-based camps, marriage camps, dating camps, and so on. There are even camping experiences that are tailored to a specific sport so you can find golf camps, baseball camps, hockey camps, and so on. There are dance camps, fashion camps, language learning camps, math camps, sailing camps, you name it!

And one interesting new sort of camping experience that has hit the market, is one which promises to teach the goers about the inner workings of Youtube fame and overall internet stardom.

Young teens have been traveling from all over the world to attend the camp, known as SocialStar Creator Camp, that is located in Southern California.

The young folks who attend this camp are learning how to build their own brand online and different skills that are supposed to help them to acquire social media success.

The camp lasts only 10 days and it costs roughly $2,400 to attend. The camp is intended to bring industry experts to meet those at the camp so that they can network, learn about social media tools, lighting tips, and more.

The most common answer that you hear from kids these days, according to a variety of surveys, when you ask them what they want to be when they grow up is that they want to become rich and famous. It's only fitting then this sort of business would emerge that seeks to combine the camping experience with the goal of teaching social media success; teaching kids how to monetize their online experience.

I got bit by a tic camping now I have lyme :( I still camp though lol

Look into the research going on with the stevia. Yes Stevia, the plant that the sweetner is made from. It's very interesting that extracts of it are effective on Lyme disease.

I have some growing in my garden and plan to tincture this years crop.

Hey , good stuff you are doing. Last time whenbi was camping ,it was like 2 years ago next to our river "Gauja" in latvia ,very beautiful river ,largest in Latvia. man, I should better create blog post about it , thats would be much better to understand how amazing its looks . Cheers mate and have a good day

:) I never want to be "famous," but if I become famous in the process of doing the right thing I'll live with it as a worthy price to pay.

Camping is the best. Affordable adventures in simplicity. The worst part is needing a pee at 3AM when your afraid of the dark!

lol!

social media camp, $2400 for 10 days, dunno what else to say about that but... 🤣🤣🤣 I just hope they're still allowed to go on panty raids, you know, for the PR and "social street-cred" of it all! lol

camping is a nice activity I think . . . @doitvoluntarily, how many times in a year did you go to camping?

hopefully soon!:)

So interesting! They are building camps to help teenagers become social stars. That's such a brilliant strategy - what's more they are charging $2400 for it, and they are getting people paying them this money? Whoever came up with this idea is a genius! Kudos to them.

"The camp lasts only 10 days and it costs roughly $2,400 to attend."

So much for simple pleasures, in sic transit gloria mundi.
What happened to throwing some stuff in a duffle and tub, grabbing the tent and tarp, and just going for it?

Last time I camped a friend who works in heavy industry with cranes and mobile plant was present, he made quite a domicile from two tents, some tarps, and a lot of cord and some rigger/trucker knot knowledge, such that the was a sheltered communal spot between the tents for meals and shaded rest. Suffice to say when a storm blew through there was barely a flapping.

That was glamping for me.

Ugh I don't like the idea of this kind of camp at all! I love me some camping, and, sure, YouTube has its place, but gosh a camp dedicated to helping millenials (kids) learn how to get famous on social media. Ack!!! What about a camp on how to be a kind neighbor, or how to share nicely, or how to love nature, or interpersonal skills 101?????

I have always loved camping. Coming back from fishing to find hotdog buns on the trail, the racoon that stole them hiding nearby...waiting for me to leave. ⛺

some of my favorite memories are from camping with family :)

It's true :)

Agreed! When I was little my I would go camping with my dad's side of the family every summer. I always looked forward to those trips.

Thanks for the stats..we are starting up a Bush Camping Tour, gold panning, fishing etc.. here in Australia..I best be checking out our stats here.. :)

I would be happy if you like to follow me and give your opinion about my posts.
Thanks.

Sounds great. One of the reasons I like United States is that Americans think well ahead of time. This steamit, camping of such sort etc. It is all just so good. Camping is an increasing trend here in our region too. I hope one day we can make the same use of our camping activities too.

Very good post @doitvoluntarily

We we are at home we wanna go to Camping and while camping, we miss our homes. Mind is really a cunning thing. How to train it to be present and happy with whatever it has.

Haha..too true! We just spent 2 yrs in a caravan travelling Australia. Back home now, and some days I say it's good to be home..others, I wish we were on the road again..lol..

Camping is the best! Hope you're enjoying your summer!!

same to you!

I have some bad experience with "camping". My teacher said I was too noisy and chuckly and basically told me to shut up. It affected my whole being really.

Now that is funny. Rich and famous camp! Maybe that's where we went wrong not going to camp! 🐓🐓

Sounds like a really good class to check out. And the idea of learning all this stuff while camping would be even better!

I love camping and canoeing the next day. The last campground that I've been to had wifi and electricity. It kinda ruins the experience a bit, then again it's nice to be able to check the markets

All in One!
