Handling Your Business With Respect - Don't Let Yourself Get Dragged Down By Other People's Complaints

in business •  4 years ago

Let's be honest, most of us have been to the point where we've wished that we had someone who was more knowledgeable in dealing with people and situations to take care of our nagging self-esteem problems. But let's be fair, we're humans after all and everyone has their little problems. We all have something that other people don't like about us. But the key is to not allow yourself to get dragged down by other peoples' bad feelings.

This can be particularly difficult if you are in a relationship. If you're the type of person who allows other people's opinions to dictate your own then you are already in trouble. You need to give them space and be supportive and understanding towards them while they are dealing with their issues. If you do this you will be much better equipped to deal with them when it comes time to talk. You'll be able to work your way out of their negativity and instead focus on solving the problem.

On the other hand, if you're the opposite of this then you need to stand your ground. Letting people tell you what you want to hear only serves to remind you of what's bothering you. It also makes you look weak in front of other people and they'll soon think of you as weak and worthless. If you let this happen then you may find yourself feeling helpless, overwhelmed, and even resentful of yourself. You need to resist the temptation to just go along with the flow and hope that things get better.

In order to do this you need to look for the real problem. Instead of focusing on the opinions of others you should be focusing on your actions. Are you allowing yourself enough time to sleep, eat, and exercise? Are you spending too much time worrying about money, bills, and putting yourself and your family through this? If you find that you are lacking in any of these things then you need to make an effort to change.

Complaints often bring up a whole host of other issues. Rather than trying to listen to someone's complaint you need to consider whether that complaint has any substance. If it does then you can take steps to address that concern. However, if there is no real issue there's nothing to worry about because the person complaining doesn't have any real power over you.

One important aspect of resisting the temptation to listen to what other people complain about is to remember that you're the one who is in control. Other people have a great deal of influence over you but you have control over yourself. This means that you're in complete control of the way you respond to what other people's complaints are. You can use this power responsibly and without using it as a weapon. When you do that you'll find that you are much happier and that other people are more willing to work with you.

Another important point to keep in mind is that you don't have to take everything that another person says to heart. If a person makes a complaint about something that you've done, you should try to honestly assess whether that complaint is valid or not. For example, if you know that a person has been complaining about something you've done you should remember that they might not be entirely right. After all, even people tend to forget that they might be mistaken. If you are working with a person who makes complaints you should try to give them a few reasons why that particular thing is doing badly rather than taking everything on face value.

You also need to be careful when you let other people tell you what to do. Remember that this advice is for free and you don't have to follow what someone tells you. Even if someone has told you that you should avoid certain complaints you should still listen to what they have to say. It is after all your business and you should be able to use your head and make the decisions that are best for you. You should also be able to ignore what people complain about if they are making a valid complaint.
