T-Shirt Business
Decisions I Made While Building a Company
Introduction
This is the story of RetroDuck, a t-shirt company that I started from my dorm room at Michigan State University in 2003. I am sitting down to write this book on the 14th anniversary of the company’s founding. RetroDuck still operates from East Lansing, Michigan, and continues to create high quality t-shirts for customers around the country.
RetroDuck never grew to be a massive financial success, but by most measures the company has been quite prosperous. RetroDuck has earned a positive long term business reputation in the East Lansing community, has been a leadership proving ground for me and my friends, and has served as a launching point for many great relationships.
My goal for this book is to recap the early history or RetroDuck and revisit the business decisions I made as a young entrepreneur. At the end of each chapter I will include a retrospective section where I will use hindsight to provide brutally honest assessments of my past decisions and actions. In some cases I will admit my failures, and in others I will boast about success.
I hope that through my sharing of these experiences others may glean a few lessons, good and bad, about building a company.
Stay tuned! Chapter One will be published exclusively to Steemit on Thursday, June 1, 2017.
Good luck, Sean. It sounds like a great idea for a business!
