Finding our passion

in business •  7 years ago

People who find fulfillment in business are not usually only in it for money.

Often their passion is not money but solving a problem or meeting a need.

These types of business owners will spend free time thinking about what they care deeply about and making a positive contribution in that area.

Such a strong sense of purpose provides commitment to quality and excellence.

With this attitude our business can be a pleasure, even in tough times.

This passion often leads to broad experience in the chosen field or industry. A thorough understanding of all aspects including relationships, knowledge of customers needs and expectations and all the competitors in the space.

Exploring and finding our passion:

  1. If we had a free day to spend on our own interest, what would we do with our time?
  2. Were do we consider we would be able to make the best use of our talents in a meaningful way?
  3. What three skills do we have that could be used to earn money?
  4. What areas do we have significant experience and skills in?
  5. What problems exist in these areas that have not been solved?

Finding our passion and establishing a successful business around it can help us to escape drudge work and enjoy our careers.

1st part made me really think of Elon Musk. That guy is definitely focused on solving some big problems.

I found that there is this problem tho that if from childhood you are focused on money and everyone around you is telling you that IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, it becomes really hard to switch attention on actually helping people.

For me, I know things I should do, but greed inside me often can distracts me. You know what I mean....? :p

Money isn't the purpose. Money is reward for your resources and value to the society.

You just can't get money if you offer zero value and the easiest thing is to work for somebody and be in a rat race.

Of course it's hard to create some real value, but every other person values different things, thus opening a way to new opportunities.

Just remember that money was created to keep us distracted from truly living our lives and finding our true purpose. Imagine if there was no such thing as money......everyone would do what makes them happy. Now set aside the fact that there are elements on this planet that are "happy" hurting other people, wouldn't that be a great place to live?

No money....no work. No work......time to explore your inner self and the world around you. We would all "work" for the betterment of the planet.

Just my 2c

Think about it: so many people are in jobs they hate because they haven’t found that one true passion. They are good at a few things so that’s what they do here and there, but they aren’t sure what that one big thing they want to do forever could be.

Here is my message: stop doing shit you hate. Nail down your strengths so you can discover your passion.

People know their passions, most of them are lazy to execute and follow them though.

It takes hard work, discipline and patience, for a LONG time to be able to escape the 9-5 game and live life on your own terms/time, hence many people not doing it and going to jobs they don't enjoy, living by schedules they don't like.

Having passion for ones business would definitely make the business boom and also the process easy.. To be successful in any business, one have to follow/invest in what he has passion for.

  1. I would dance Tango until I drop; when I drop, I would drink cocktails and lemonades in bed, hopefully but unlikely accompanied by some pretty girl.
  2. Business Planning.
  3. Financial Forecasting, General Business Insights, Proficient Written English.
  4. Business Planning.
  5. The offer is huge and diverse, there are no unsolved problems.

Your questions are great, but unfortunately, by passion is not really in line with my skills and insights.

I'm in the IT sector, specifically in support and repairs. I am very passionate about fixing things and fiddling with electronics...been like this since a was a toddler. I love seeing what makes things tick.

I can have the worst day possible or feel sad or whatever...just give me something I can fix or build with my hands and I'm in my happy place. It's my therapy.

The fact that I get paid to do it is a plus. :-)

Short sweet and helpful text i ll try to folow thos guide lines from now on

I understand finding passion is more important than making money. When you follow your passion, your business automatically becomes a success. But I'm afraid some people today fail to realise what is their passion or what they want in life. They do not know their strengths and weakness. They are completely clueless of what they want in life and they are the people who follow the sheep mentality. This should be clearly overcomed!

Indeed the secret of all successful people is their ability to discover their passion, solve problems and enjoy doing this first as a value added. Thereafter the money will follow.

Great write up on business venturing. Keep up the good work of motivating young entrepreneurs. I'm fully in support of your usually pragmatic ideas.

Well it's good to follow your passion, but it's better to follow opportunities.

When you got a passion and pushes you to a competitive market it will be very hard to benefit from your passion.

I know this because I'm following my passion for writing and philosophy and making a dime is really extremely hard. Because writing is very competitive.

Very true also, but best is if you follow opportunities in line with your passion

We live in a world where dreams collide with reality and most of the time our dreams get smashed to ashes.

I guess you have to look for opportunities while having a passion.

I really don't know – everything is hard and there's a lot competition and competition is good, if there's competition that means that there is a demand. :-)

Passion is everything

These questions are key, I recently graduated and I'm about to start a business, an Engineering firm and I've been doing a lot of brainstorming.
These questions are a good push.
Thanks @sme

following passion is all that matters. I remember my mum always telling me to always get involved with what i loved doing, not something i was compelled to do.

I totally agree with you. when you find your passion, channel it towards solving a problem and the cash will come. Mark Zuckerberg started facebook, inorder to solve a problem not the other way around. problem solving guarantees money making, and happiness.

I already upvoted this and resteemed. I guess people needs to get this.

Answer 1:making sure i find other credible means to improve on it or possible way to reach out to alot of persons just to know what my interest is like. Just like me being a promoter on twitter,i tend to spend more time interacting with clients and linking up with those that don't know about my work.
Answer 2:mine is on social media and anything online platform
Answer 3: promotional skill, motivational quote skill and being a good steemian
Answer 4:being a media promoter because I got lots of followers on twitter and Instagram 122,000 and 13,000 respectively and i have been an online working promoter for 3years.
Answer 5:havent really gotten globally known and the fact of havent been verified on twitter and Instagram because this shows a certification of what one does. But most times we dont see it neccessary but in a slight way,it is
Thanks for your great questions and allowing me share my view.🖒🖒🖒

we should folllow our passion not money. If we follow money we are just a small time worker and our life is boring but if we follow our passion everyday is entertaining and productive and we can do work much better and with new ideas.

Oh, I know about these steps, but I can say for sure- still, finding your passion in reality is very hard. Before this you need to try yourself in a lot of different activities and fields of interests. So it is much harder than looks like from the beginning

This is sound advice. The biggest questions are “what are you passionate about” and “what problems can you solve through this passion”.

Naturally, the third question is, with the solution that you can provide, what would a person reasonably be expected to pay for this solution.

Often we undervalue the solution that we can provide. For example. I realised today that I hadn’t changed the price of my service for 2 years. Therefore, I am losing out on a significant amount of money given that my competitors have all increased their pricing.

Going into business is hard. You really do need to be passionate about what you do.

The biggest risk is that your passion becomes a chore. For example, your passion might be baking cakes. How would you feel if your livelihood depended on how many cakes you can sell per day? Would you still be passionate about baking cakes if your income depended on it? Don’t ruin a passion if it’s best kept as a fun hobby.

It might be difficult most times to pursue passion but with discipline I think passion follows and the earning of each business is every business man aim passion too go along love what you do

Great. Thanks

It is worth money to be healthy.

What is passion?

Passion, in my own words, simply means finding your joi de vivre, that is, your spark. It could also mean finding what makes you tick and working in line with it.

In fact, Maya Angelou remarked one time, "When you do what you love, you will never work a day." Well, she was right. And i strongly believe she was talking about PASSION.

Albeit, i though, like many others, that passion really is overrated. Yes, passion is great, but there are times where what you are passionate about will not put food on your table. And a broke individuals ends up being a frustrated human, who then turns out to be a jerk and a crazy bully.

So, I'd say you know what your purpose is, then find something that would consolidate your purpose, and soon enough, what you do will turn to your passion.

Just my two cents though. You don't have to agree with it.

Thanks for sharing this with the community by the way.
