Let’s play a game. Pretend you have achieved everything in business that you ever wanted. You have major financial success. The yachts, cars, private jets; you name it. Now picture that you have all of this success but you are extremely overweight. You have a ton of health issues. Let me ask you this; what’s the point of having all the money you could want but not have your health? Success isn’t just monetary; success to me is success in several areas of your life. Money isn’t the only thing we should be valuing in life. We have family, friends, our religious beliefs, health and much more.

Eating healthier and working out regularly can dramatically help you in your life; which in turn would show dividends in your business. By taking the time out to care of yourself you can:

  1. Relieve stress
  2. Have more energy
  3. Improve your mood

These are just a couple of reasons for eating healthy and working out regularly can affect your life. Let’s break down each of these effects and apply them to your future or current business.

Relieve Stress 😌

Whether you currently run a business or you are planning to; it comes with a lot of stress. There is a lot of moving parts and it’s even more stressful if you have employees. Working out regularly can help regulate your stress levels. When your stress is too high you will begin to feel overwhelmed and it will cloud your judgment. A stressed leader is a dangerous leader. High stress can affect sleep patterns which can affect how you make decisions. If you are not constantly in control of your emotions you can make a foolish mistake that can harm your business.

Have More Energy 😃

When you are starting out as a small business you may not have the capital to hire all the help you might need at first. This leads to you doing everything; I mean literally EVERYTHING! This will most likely lead to 70-80 hour work weeks. YIKES! I have been there and I can tell you from personal experience that if you don’t have the right diet to fit your hectic schedule you will be drained very fast. Your mood will change and you won’t have the physical or mental strength to keep up.

Improve Your Mood 👍

Your morale is very important at all stages of your business. Your mood will dictate you and your team’s efficiency. All of the chips, cookies and other junk will slow you down and make you sleepy. Thus, your team will notice. As team leader your team is looking at you to set the tempo. If you are constantly sluggish how will you get anything done? This will also help with your communication with your team. Better mood, better spirits will avoid you taking any unnecessary frustration or angry out on your team. This would ruin morale or even worse you may lose a valuable member of your team.

I am not asking you to be a body builder I am just saying be active. It is better for your health and can help you navigate the very frustrating business world. You only have one body so I say it’s best to take care of it before it is too late. Thank you for taking the time to read this I really appreciate it. If you have any comments or other tips I haven’t mentioned please feel free to comment below. Also, feel free to follow me so you can be the first to know when Part 2 comes where I will be talking about some more tips to get more active and eat better with a busy schedule.

Having a great diet makes you feel totally different. I know before I used to have no energy to do anything I didn't want to wake up in the morning it felt like a job just getting out of bed but once I started eating better every morning is a great morning

You are absolutely right, when I went vegetarian 4 years ago I lost 10lbs in 1 month and I felt great. Don't worry I had a very physical job so it was like a workout. I had more energy, I slept better; which made my job easier for me to complete. Diet makes a huge difference in how your body feels. What you put in is what you get out.
