(42.54) Eight people died electrocuted on the unprotected line of PDB
At least eight people died due to electrocution of the PDB's unprotected LT line in Sirajganj Sadar upazila. The incident happened at Pabis area of Kadai village under Kalia Haripur Union of Sirajganj Sadar upazila on Tuesday noon. One more person was admitted to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital in critical condition.

The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 32, son of late freedom fighter Habibur Rahman, Abdus Sattar, 50, son of Megha Sheikh, Chanar Hossain, 33, son of his nephew Abdul Hamid, Abdullah Sheikh, 13, student of 7th grade of Paikpara Model High School, Abu Taher. ), Kasam's son, weaving laborer Abdul Momin (30), son of Abdul Alim, Sajib Hassan, a student of class 7 of Paikpara Model High School, (15) Amin

Locals said that a person named Abu Taher, who was drowning in the rainy season on the western side of Kadai Government Primary School, a tungsten shop, sold it to Abdus Sattar of the same village. At noon, Sattar was picking the shop with another 10-12 people and removing the shop to another place. Meanwhile, the PDB stuck the tin shipment of the shop with unprotected electricity cable. The whole room was electrified by spraying it at a stage. At this time, all electrified people fell into the water and were seriously injured. When they took them to Sadar Hospital, they declared dead to eight doctors. Six of the dead were in Sadar Hospital morgue. The bodies of the remaining two were taken to the village.
Until this report, no investigation committee was formed from the district administration or PDB.
However, the previous PDB is currently the executive engineer of NarDan Electricity Supply Company (NESCO). Mohiuddin said, "I have heard that a high level inquiry committee will be constituted in this incident.
In response to a question of the unprotected line, he said, "Because there is no budget we have some unprotected lines in the area. The lines are being given in such a way for two decades. We have already informed the senior authority for the reform of the old lines. But it is not possible due to the budget not coming. '
Responding to a question of journalists whether the line was illegal, he said, "It is going to be told until it goes to the area." I can say after going there. Immediately after the incident, we tried to go there but could not go because of the public. '
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Mohammad Dawood confirmed the matter, said, "After the autopsy, the bodies will be handed over to the family." There is no case yet.
Upazila chairman Abdul Raihan and additional police superintendent Abu Yusuf Ali and officials of different levels of administration including the Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Raihan also visited the accident site and hospitals after receiving the news. The people of Pabis went to Kadai village after the incident, but the PDB did not go to Kadai village because of the fear of being humiliated.
On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Kamrun Nahar Siddika announced to give the family Tk 25,000 to the families of eight of the dead, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer said.
