(33.53) Saudi Arabia women can run taxi
Saudi Arabia says women in the country will now get permission to run the taxi. The country has announced this on Friday. Under a decree last year, women from Saudi Arabia will be allowed to ride taxi from June.
According to Saudi Arabia's state media, traffic director Mohammad al-Bassami confirmed that all steps were taken to drive women. He said that five schools in six cities were allowed to teach women driving. Many applications are awaiting permission.
Al Bassami also said that the driving school for women has already been started. Many women have been trained to perform duties in the traffic and administrative departments of the traffic department.
Saudi officials said that women who have foreign driving licenses can convert it to Saudi Arabia's license.
The Khaliz Times said, even if the formal announcement was not made, the international taxi service firm has finally finalized the recruitment of women taxi drivers in Uber Saudi Arabia.
