Is It Wrong To Only Follow Steemians who vote up comments on their posts?
I find it more engaging to know you will be heard if you take the time to read and comment plus it is a way to figure out who out there is constantly active. There is nothing worse than a dud account with no engagement.

I want my feed to be filled with great stuff regardless if it is from Steepshot, Zappl, Busy or a full fledged Steemit Post. I think those who are reading the comments and replies produce better content no matter which app they use to deliver it.

I really want to know what the community thinks about this.

I rarely upvote comments: if someone sounds cool I visit their site and upvote their content instead. I am not the only one who does this. Chatting and engagement is good, but it is more about the content for me.

I'm with you but it's an tough start in this community for newbies. You your content don't even get noticed and you don't have the power or partners to push it. So producing long good content for just 1 view can be a pain in the ass! So commenting can be a great opportunity for new people to participate, connect to people and strenght their SP by getting their comments tipped ;-)

Hmmm, tips for comments were not worth as much when I started. My votes are basically worthless now that I am powering down. I have been resteeming a lot of people instead, since I seem to have active followers.

If you are a minnow even small amounts can be more than nothing. Reestiming can be another great option. But for me I don't see it on the first spot if someone resteems. A tip for my comment is more present. Just a psychological thinking...
By the way I would love to upvote you, but with my power, you wouldnt get a cent lol

there is one school of thought for content creators that if you vote up and engage with your followers they will see all your content and vote on it. I'm finding that I followed too many people and the people I really want to see get lost in the noise of my feed. I have been purging who I follow so it is more manageble. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out as this thing grows. I hear what you are saying about content and it is a good point.

Purging is good, especially when people do not seem to be trying. A lot of steemians in chat like to save their votes until they have more power, I vote to much sometimes I think.

I certainly appreciate an upvote for a well thought out comment but I wouldn't follow/or unfollow people because of it. I think when money is involved you will have people who strategically do that to optimize how much money they are making per comment. Which I guess is smart... lol But I just follow people that interest me.

I understand what you are saying completely. I'm just trying to get rid of the noise in my feed and want more conversation the posts.

I really appreciate it a lot when folks give thoughtful comments. It's so new to me to be on an online forum like this at all, and the ones who are welcoming and engaging make it a warm cozy place to be.

I agree Lily and I love your posts. I try to keep up. I know you commute to LA to work and were having quite a time with the weather. This weather we are having is definitely not in the Brochure lol

Aw, thank you! Sadly, because of that LA situation I just found out today that all my production is cancelled for this company and is ending early. So, I'll be around here more on Steemit and onto freelance life! Are you in the PNW too?

Nope I'm in LA. But looking forward to more steem stuff from you.

Thank you! Likewise!

I couldn't agree more! I personally think that a little conversation can't hurt, and it makes people feel good when their comments get a response.

thanks @lucamiester . I think it ads a little more "realness" to the platform plus if people get rewarded they will come back over and over again to consume the content.

Exactly!

Nice start for an discussion and I think its a nice sign of getting noticed if a comment gets tipped by a few cents. That doesn't mean every "yeah great post" comment should be tipped. But If the comment is unique its a good sign of respect. But on the other hand it should be not the main reason to follow someone. Just my to cents ;-)
