I think everyone has known this happens and has happened for years. There have always been market makers and crypto is more like a game of hot potato and than anything else.

Bloomberg's sources said that the investigation will focus on practices that have essentially been regulated out of futures and equities markets. Traders submit false orders and cancel at the last moment (spoofing) or trade heavily with themselves to create a fake impression of demand (wash trading). Both practices are illegal. Bloomberg also notes that virtual currencies can be ripe for fraud as evidenced by wild price swings, a fragmented trading presence and a lack of regulations (until now). The Justice Department is working with cryptocurrency regulator, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, in its investigation.

IMHO I think the Rockerfellas, Rothschilds, Soros and other wealthy powerful elitist are way more involved then we think! as for btc whales, the powers that be are obviously turning a blind eye, keeping prices within range of institutional investors.... seems like the btc whales are doing the "crypto illuminati" a favor, by manipulating a market that they really dont know much too much about... and the elites are allowing it cuz it seems to benefit them in ways we cant even fathom>>>>> just sayen!

History has shown that these elites have manipulated markets before! in fact back in the dayz, its how they made there wealth>>>>> besides, bootlegging, murdering, drug dealing, racketeering, embezzling etc. smh!

I agree @jae123 but I don't think it is the same old suspects you speak of. It's new blood. Those who are market makers are those who were in early and had the understanding of the system. The Robber Barons just buy the pot with their accumulated wealth in the modern world so they may not yet be sophisticated enough to make a market.

Exactly. I think it's a bit overly paranoia thinking the old players will be able to control Technology that is in everybodys hands right now. With so many empowered people it's impossible to control it! This system is now in the hands of developers and passionate geeks.

but institutional money will come in and it will be massive amounts. That will benefit us and put the old guard right back up at the top. But they will be seated at the table with the super geeks and have less control lol

Yes!
