Education is not training

Hi steemians, one thing is to train and another is to educate, so that we should not fall into the error of believing that training generates education. While the training is directed to the physical training of the person, education is oriented to the formation of his spirit. The training is affirmed in the training of the body and the hands of men and women, they are trained for action, for the manufacture of things, for the production of objects, since from well-trained hands products with better finishing come out, equally , a well prepared body resists demanding tasks, adapts meekly to the rhythm of manufacturing and responds energetically to work requirements. Training, as we are seeing, has a specific purpose, does not escape the conflicting dialectic that characterizes this order of things in the midst of which we exist. The purpose of the training is the habilitation of the hands and the strengthening of the body, the strict physical preparation in order that the technical expertise of men and women affects the improvement of economic production, contributes to the increase of labor productivity, raise the generation of material wealth. It is for this reason that the owners of the economy, employers, prefer educational institutions focused on training and not on education. What matters to them is that their economic riches always rise, hence they have enormous interest in putting higher education institutions at the service of their exclusive interests and that these instead of educating train students, train them to work, prepare them as labor, at the same time as their spirit numbs them, they annul their soul, they quiet their subjectivity.

The educative slogan of the entrepreneurs is undoubtedly a trained body and a stupid spirit, such is the type of person they expect to provide their universities. But, we note, how universities are not mere physical spaces, but fundamentally are communities made up of teachers and students, where the former have the responsibility for the training of the latter, then it is up to the teachers to clarify which option they subscribe to, in which direction guide their pedagogical performance, with which cognitive interests are identified, what is the idea of ​​training that they defend or do not defend any and what they do is practice the pedagogy of the ostrich, which is the same pedagogy of indifference.

The idea of ​​educating, on the other hand, has another meaning. The latter, contrary to training, what is sought is the formation of the spirit of the person, the enrichment of their subjectivity, the refinement of their thinking. His interest is the soul of the person, his condition of knowing subject, of being thinking. Education is concerned with the formation of people who think with their own heads, who autonomously assume the process of thinking, who are interested in raising their capacity to understand the reality that surrounds them. Thus, the educator who educates is not dedicated to the simple teaching of knowledge, nor does it teach, nor transmit information, but rather lets the other learn; encourages the student to learn for himself, promotes in it the search for knowledge, allows him to raise doubts, questions, questions and answer them by himself, after having studied the issues that apply.
