[Dari sebuah kedai karaoke di tepi kota]

DARI balik organ tunggal, seorang pria separuh baya memencet beberapa tuts. Intro lagu dangdut menghentak; bising menggerinjam gendang telinga. Iramanya seperti menyuruh jari bergoyang.

Jarum jam melewati angka sembilan. Si penyanyi melantunkan lagu dangdut yang liriknya terdengar akrab. Ketika masuk reff, suaranya melengking diikuti bunyi suing mikrofon.

"Oke, terima kasih," ujarnya.

"Ayeee...!" teriaknya, ketika irama koplo mulai menggetarkan dinding kedai. Di luar kedai, angin mengusir hawa panas yang masih mengendap setelah 'purnama biru' beberapa hari lalu.

[From a karaoke shop on the edge of town]

FROM behind THE keyboard, a middle-aged man pressed several keys. Intro dangdut song stomping; noisy make a deaf ears. The wind was blowing from the front of the store to ward off the cigarette smoke that touched the ceiling. The smell of perfume sometimes pinches the nose, mixed with cigarette smoke, and the wind.

In front of the keyboard, a female singer welcomes the intro by shaking her body into the music while her hands tightly gripping the mic. The singer wore tight jeans, black high heels, and a tight white shirt wrapped around the body. So tight, gap between buttons of shirt often shows the singer's bustehouder.

It's past nine o'clock. The singer sang a dangdut song whose lyrics sound familiar. Upon entering reff, her voice was shrill followed by a buzzing microphone. "Let's dance!" he shouted to the audience. The audiences are just a dozen people, old, young, male and female, smiling. Some reply with shouts, yeee haaa (or eaa).

Although several times sounds discordant, the woman remains confident. She finished the song as the beads of sweat began to fall on his forehead. "Oke, thank you," she said. She then returned to her desk, sipping cold orange juice. Her red lips trembled as she met a straw. While the white shirt is slightly wet by the occasional sweat still sends a bustehouder sight.

This small karaoke tavern is located on the outskirts of Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh province, Indonesia. Away from the shops crowd. The small street in front of the tavern became a parking lot. Mostly filled by motorcycles.

From the outside, the tavern does not look like a karaoke place. Banners on display in front only write down the types of drinks sold. At the stall, almost every Friday and Saturday night, karaoke is opened. The music starts playing after Isha and stops in the middle of the night.

Less than a minute after the music is stopped, from his desk a guy goes to the keyboard player. The man wore T-shirts, jeans and loafers. He was almost middle-aged. After ordering the song, she grabbed the mic and faced the audience.

The music then flows. This time it's not dangdut but Tommy J Pisa's old song. Tommy is an Indonesian pop singer of the 1980th. He improvised the song without a discordant note. Sometimes he directs the microphone to the audience who also sings the song. He ended his song with a "gift" of applause.

The music paused. Waiter brought a tray of drinks to a table in the corner of tavern. From her seat, the female singer has risen. Walk slowly to the keyboard player; ask for a song. The thin scarf on her head now slumped down his neck; protect the "slit" in the white shirt. "Ayeee ...!" she shouted, as koplo rhythm begins to shake the wall of the shop. Outside the tavern, the wind blew away the heat that stayed after super blue blood moon a few days ago.
