I thought I would be writing this while on the plane this morning but needed to catch up for my meetings today and tomorrow for much more than I expected so I am now speech to texting this while I am on the way for my first meal of the day after leaving the office. It highlights an additional challenge I have had over the last couple weeks as I have been more intensely following my diet to achieve more results. I am happy to say that I have now been intermittent fasting for about two months and have gotten down to a 2 to 4 hour window of eating. It continues to be a challenge, particularly when having a busy day in the office or traveling as planning is never easy given the restrictions of my diet as well; as I continue my low-carb diet.

However, I have seen the benefits almost immediately of implementing this more restrictive diet. My weight has now fallen below my goal that I had set for the entire year. While this definitely has me celebrating given the amount of time it has taken to get there, I normally measure my success by the way I feel and look which in reality has me believing that I can still do much better. I learned a while ago during previous health and fitness improvements that it is not about the weight that correlates with fitness and health but instead other factors which I intend to focus on. For example, I still feel that my strength and even my stamina when participating in sports still has a long way to go. In addition, my body composition still feels underwhelming and looks about the same.

Furthermore, this progress has gotten me to a point where my wardrobe has started to shift once again to clothing that is more towards where my goals are. My wife always gets excited at this part as she believes that I feel more confident when I wear these clothes then the ones prior. The only bad part is that once again I have had to spend money in updating my wardrobe once again as they haven’t gotten into my thinnest I’ve been for a while so I needed to buy some clothes for work. These are some of the benefits of achieving goals and milestones along the path to better health and fitness. I think achieving them allows us to be more confident in how we interact with others but also motivate yourself to believe in what we put our minds to when we put an effort effort behind it.

This result was very encouraging to see as I had had a couple of cheat days late last month as I was on vacation. However, the combination of the more restrictive diet in addition to my continued effort and exercise has paid off with a net loss in weight this month. This is great because it makes me feel less guilty about those cheat days and the fact that in these travels I expect to have in the next couple of weeks I can have some more flexibility and encouragement when it comes to my diet and my actions. Next week, I will be on a family vacation for a long weekend and have already set myself up to have the liberty of eating what I want with no restrictions. However, I will offset it with continuing to do my exercise regime. It is encouraging to be able to have this flexibility once again but I need to watch out and continue the discipline as it can get away from me pretty quickly.

This exercise regime has been another key portion of my success as we often do not realize how the body works in consuming energy when doing our normal workouts. I have started to have more than one session a day which has also helped distribute the load of my workouts throughout the day and help me use that energy more consistently over the day. While I didn’t hit all the goals during the month, I more often than not went in excess of the amount of calories needed to be burned which leveled out the results for the month. I also incorporated weight training much more often this month than prior months. Unfortunately, this did not lead to me trying new types of routines as I have remain limited to my normal activities of my gym and my treadmill at home in addition to being outdoors for cardio. I am really anxious to start something new like CrossFit as I feel that it will help him my goal for body composition and strength.

The @actifit app continues to be one of the contributors of my success as it has motivated me when things are busy. It reminds me every day of the opportunity I have to grow on the platform and achieve results not only in the ecosystem but also with my health. It is also encouraging to see how the community continues to grow and engages actively with each other in exciting times where projects expanding innovatively through the ecosystem. I envision an ever expanding community and ecosystem that continues to broaden the way we engage with each other and eventually transact by motivating our wellbeing and growth!
