Gratitude Day 52/62: Future

in busy •  6 years ago  (edited)

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a doctor. Actually, there was a time I wanted to be an astronaut. However, as I grew got older and wiser, I realized that even if you want to exist in the real world, you have to dream with your eyes wide open. I was very introverted, I was always with one book or the other. People in my household called me doctor. It's quite funny that people still call me doctor when I travel to my old neighborhood. I don't know how to tell them that I was not able to follow that path.

Sighs, anyway, it's in the past now. It seems as though the future gets dimmer as I grow older. I've felt the fatal blow of life at many times. I've gone through the school of hard knocks. At one point in my life, I told my mate that what I was going through is the greatest challenge I would ever face in life. He chuckled, I knew what he was going to say. I knew that what is ahead of me is greater than what is behind me, therefore, I should expect greater challenges.

I get depressed sometimes. Sometimes it gets so bad that I feel physical pain in my chest. When I am really down, I remind myself of something God told me the night I almost died. Yep, there was a night I almost died. I had just suffered a great loss and someone I considered was more important than my own self. LOL. Now that I think about it, I realize how silly I was to even consider giving up because I lost someone. It was all in my mind.

These are the exact words that He spoke to me: "Your latter will be greater than your past!" He said that "Although your beginning may be small, your latter end shall greatly increase."
Those words are my favorite words in the world. Whenever I make tremendous success, they remind me that I still have much more in my future and whenever I fail, it reminds me that the failure is just a part of the process. My best days and my blessed days are ahead of me.

Today I want to thank God for a bright future. I know that where I am now is nothing compared to where I can be in the future. I know that whatever I am now, or whatever I have is nothing compared to the plan that God has for me, and I know that I have a future that is WORTH FIGHTING FOR

Thank you very much.
