What is the Ragnarok?

The Ragnarok, end of the world or "Destiny of the Gods", will come after a great winter called Fimbulvetr, which will have immense snowfall, hail and icy winds in all directions. It will be three winters followed one another, without intermediate summers for the sun to end these great frosts.

The World would be in chaos and there would be endless battles between the men where the brothers would fight each other and it would be a time of swords, axes and shields destroyed. The Sköll and Hati wolves chasing the chariots of the sun and moon gods finally reach and devour them, the stars will disappear and the earth will shake violently, causing the mountains to fall and all terrestrial union will be broken freeing Loki and his son the Fenris wolf of its chains, thus releasing its snout by expelling fire for which it would touch the sky and the earth.

The snake of Midgard or Jörmundgander will jump on the earth, expelling poison. The sky will be torn and the fire giants will come, led by Surt with his brilliant sword, which, riding, will break the Bifrost bridge that connects the nine worlds; Eggther sat on his grave and playing his harp would raise three roosters that would warn Ragnarok, Fjalor a red rooster that would warn the Jotuns (Giants), the golden Gullinkambi rooster that would warn the Gods and an unknown rooster red rust that would raise the dead of the Hel; Loki would arrive at the Vigrid plain where the battle would unfold with ships loaded with all the creatures of hell, jotuns and ice giants meeting Surt and his army.

Heimdall will rise up by touching his horn three times, awakening all the gods that will gather in assemblies. Then Yggdrasil trembles, the tree of the world. The gods will wear their armor and the 800 warriors from each of the 540 gates of Valhalla will march towards Vigrid and Odin will ride to the front, wearing a gold helmet and a shiny sash, brandishing his Gungnir spear.

Beginning the battle Odin will be attacked by Wolf Fenris, Thor will have to face the snake Jörmundgander, an unarmed Frey would fight Surt being the first to die in combat, the dog Garm would be freed and fight against Tyr dying both in the act.

Thor would kill Jörmundgander would go back the exact amount of nine steps and die for the venom of the serpent, Odin would be devoured by Fenris, dying thus the God of Gods or Father of All. The god Vidar would step on Fenris's jaw and break when he pulled the top of it. Loki would fight with Heimdall dying both in combat, Surt would throw fire on the nine worlds, devastating and killing to all living being.

But not everything would die, the brother of Odin Vili, the children of Odin, Vidar and Vali because the fire does not get them damaged, they would inhabit Idavöll that would not be destroyed like the rest of Asgard, they would be joined by the sons of Thor , Modi and Magni would inherit the Mjolnir hammer from their father, Balder and Höðr who died before the Ragnarok would emerge from hell and finally Hoenir with his wand will see what is to come. When meeting in Idavoll, all these will sit down to talk about their knowledge and the things that have happened, they will find golden chess boards which belonged to the gods. Two humans would survive because they hid the Hodmimir forest a place that Surt's fire does not affect, called Lif and Lifhrasir would become the parents of Midgard and populate the human world, having a new pantheon of Gods led by Balder.
