to attend a grand gathering
citing the science that lags behind
for future stock
life is very short
useless treasure and rank
if science is not obtained
take your time even for an instant
hearing advice even for a moment
for your life to be useful
for the nation and the whole ummah
o my country child love
seek science before death
so as not to go astray living on earth
provision of charity for the afterlife later
O son of the country I love
demand knowledge while young
so that your afterlife is not miserable
demand knowledge while there is time
because the end of your life no one knows
then, as you live there is the tututlah

Menuntut Ilmu
dari berbagai penjuru kita datang
untuk menghadiri sebuah pertemuan akbar
mengutip ilmu yang tertinggal
untuk bekal masa depan
hidup ini sangat singkat
tidak berguna harta dan pangkat
kalau ilmu tidak didapat
luangkan waktumu walau sekejab
mendengar nasehat walau sesaat
agar hidupmu bermamfaat
untuk bangsa dan seluruh ummat
wahai anak negeri ku cintai
carilah ilmu sebelum mati
agar tidak sesat hidup dibumi
bekal amal untuk akhirat nanti
wahai anak negeri yang kucintai
tuntutlah ilmu selagi muda
agar akhiratmu tidak sengsara
tuntutlah ilmu selagi ada waktu
karena ujung hidupmu tidak ada yang tau
maka, selagi hayatmu ada tututlah
ilmu yang membawamu kesurga
