B&W Photo Contest ~ Flowers - Water lily

My 3 entrys for @daveks B&W photo contest.
Water lily black

Water lilies are amazing flowers. In the summer they decorate our lakes, just as the stars adorn the night sky. But not many people noticed that the lilies are not always visible on the surface. At night and in bad weather, the flowers are closed and submerged.

Their long stems begin to twist like springs. Due to this, the flower itself falls under the protection of the leaves. In water, the flowers are more secure than on the surface. And they can wait quite a strong thunderstorm.

For several years I went to a lake in the Tver region (north of Russia) to shoot water lilies. Unable to say what it is connected with, but there was a huge number of blossoms. May be thousand. It was possible to swim for several hours on the lake and photographing one flower then another.
In terms of photography, it was important that there was enough clear water. What a rarity for the lakes of our land.
