Art and fermenting

I've been doing fermenting for little short of a year now. I started with a batch of kimchi, something that i don't remember tasting before, i just had the idea from somewhere and went with it. Out of curiosity and health purposes. One of those trends i suppose. I've been doing little batches of kimchi and sauerkraut every now and then after that, but you can only have so much.

As you can see in the picture I got some garlic going on now that i am testing and yesterday i made a jar from red cabbage, just for some change. That red cabbage led to this post actually. As i was done with salting the cabbage and putting it into the jar, i noticed the pretty purple liquid. I'm sure you can see where this is going now...

I just had to take a little bit of it and try painting with it and it produced a very nice, little bit unpredictable blue light purple. I've not looked into plant dyes too much before apart from coffee, i'm eyeing at that garlic brine now as it is starting to emit interesting color, unfortunately a very strong odor too. I don't know if more will follow from this experiment, but it was little bit of fun.
