Getting your coffee fix in Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown: Lim Kee Cafe (Petaling St.)

Where: 66-68, Jalan Sultan, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
Opens everyday from 0930 hrs to 1830 hrs.

Among the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur are the old shop houses that are still used for business along Petaling Street- known as Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown. And here you'll find a plethora of eateries, souvenir shops (it's a trap!), and cafes too. Whether you're up for Malaysia's classic traditional coffee or hipster handcrafted speciality coffee, you're spoiled for choices when in Kuala Lumpur.

I've chanced upon Lim Kee Cafe, one of Chinatown's uprising coffee shop in my recent downtown trip and it was a rather lovely coffee shop I must say. Interestingly, this cafe is a venture between a boutique hotel and a coffee shop! So if you're looking for a place to snooze or crash in central Kuala Lumpur, you could consider Tian Jing Hotel. Quickly upon arrival, I was greeted by retro square tiles and some outdoor seating along the corridor.

The setting and atmosphere was rather contrasting with its neighbours- it was laid back and quiet as I stepped into Lim Kee. Subtly lighted up with the blaring sunlight from outside the window, it's a great place to have some alone time, reading or have a chat session with your mates.

At Lim Kee Cafe, a noticeably lower price tag (considering it's established in downtown KL) on their handcrafted beverages already make me want to plan my next visit here. Beans sourced from Brother Basil Co, I was guaranteed a cup of happiness and satisfaction. Doesn't matter if you're into black or white, it was all good.

My overall experience here was a really positive one. Although the Lim Kee may be small in size, it's quiet on weekdays afternoon. Limited seatings to be expected on peak hours too. If I were to give a score on a scale from 1 to 10, this cafe would definitely earn a 7. So the next time you're in downtown KL, give this place a visit!

That's all for now. If there's a place I should check out, do recommend and suggest to me below! Till then, we'll e-meet again on my next entry. Cheers and have a great one.

Edmund :)
