There is a show of solidarity from Nigeria with the emergence of Prof Tijjani Bande as the President of the United Nations General Assembly, (UNGA). Bandeh, a professor of Political Science is currently the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations.

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and CISLAC Global says Prof Bande’s emergence demonstrates the confidence Nigeria and international community reposes in him. CISLAC is also saying that Bandeh is reaping the fruits of his leadership pedigree as the Director-General of the Centre African de Formation et de Recherché Administrative pour le Development (CAFRAD), Tangier, Morocco; Vice Chancellor of Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS), Kuru in Plateau State, amongst others.

Given this track records, CISLAC is confident that his emergence would enhance efficient and qualitative discussion, debate, and recommendations on subjects pertaining to international peace and security such as development, disarmament, human rights, international law, and the peaceful arbitration of disputes between nations at the United Nations General Assembly.
