Aunt Oma’s Red Velvet Cake!
2 1/2 cups cake flour
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups sugar
3 1/4 sticks margarine
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cocoa powder
1tsp. vinegar
1tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 bottle red food color
(sift dry ingredients separate)
cream butter + sugar, add eggs beat well. add food color + vinegar
Add dry mix + milk alternately while mixing.. add vanilla.. mix till smooth!
butter and flour pans evenly distribute between 3 round cake pans
bake at 400 time will depend on your oven.. use toothpick to check center.. poke it.. when it comes out clean.. its done!
Frosting
cream..
1 stick margarine
1 6oz. box cream cheese
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
whip to cream
stir in 1 cup chopped pecans
(I usually double the frosting)
