Apparently there's a whole load of convict labor being used to help fight the fires. Do you know anything about this? I've read that these dudes are payed $1 an hour -not exactly danger money is it.

Yeah -- It's fully horrible. VICE had a piece on it not too long ago. It's a shame that systems are so broken down there (and not much better up here in Canada I would think). People are being arrested, abused and exploited.
