2017 was dubbed by some the "year of housing" in the California State Legislature. In this video, Megan Kirkeby, Policy Research Specialist with California's Dept. of Housing and Community Development, breaks down provisions of these new laws:

SB35 --Fast-tracking projects to meet regional "fair share" housing goals
AB1505 & SB2 -- New "permanent source" of funding for affordable housing
AB494 & SB 229 -- Easing the way for second units on residential lots
AB678, SB167, & AB1515 -- Strengthening tools to fight NIMBY opposition to housing
