In Cameroon, Friday 22 october 2016 was a black one with more than 80 people dead and hundreds wounded in a ghastly train accident directedly related to a river cutting the Douala-Yaoundé highway and stopping traffic which is heavy. This is a very important highway as it generates most income to the Government in terms of taxes. It links the Douala economic powerhouse to the Capital city Yaoundé. Even goods in transit to Chad and the Central African Republic go through this road.

The road was built more than 30 years ago and get no or less maintenance although there are 4 tollgates on the highway costing a dollar each.
