- Choose the right campsite
The campsite should be as level as possible. This can be seen quite well with the naked eye. But you only notice how exactly he is when you lie on it. Small bumps, slightly sloping terrain, or stones are usually noticeable through good mats and tend to rob you of sleep. Therefore, you should first try to lie down on the selected spot before you pitch the tent.
- Secure the tent against the wind when unpacking
A tent is a perfect sail. So that it does not look for space in the wind, you should secure it immediately after removing it from the cover. You can do this with a backpack or your own legs, for example. If you are skillful, you can fix the first tensioning lines of the tent - the tent cover, on the other hand, is stowed away immediately, e.g. in your jacket pocket. Tip: It is best to always pack the tent in the cover so that the tension lines on one side are the first to be grasped the next time it is unpacked.
- How to set up?
There are two options, depending on the tent. If the inner and outer tent is sewn and practically "in one piece", you only have to put the cross braces together, push them into the device, and then fix the tent using the hooks and tent pegs. With variant 2, the inner tent is first set up and fixed, then the flysheet is placed over it, fixed to the inner tent, and then tensioned.
- How to attach the tent pegs?
The hooks hold best if you push or knock them into the ground at a 45-degree angle. How far away they can be attached to the tent depends on the environment and the other tents. Here you have to find a compromise: too close means too little tension, too far away can trip others or yourself at night.
- Don't forget to clamp!
The lines must be well tensioned so that the tent remains stable in any wind or tight when it rains. Tighten the lines again before going to bed - with the zippers closed.
- Go warm into the tent!
It is essential to start the night in the tent warm - if you are already cold, you will only warm up very slowly here. It is advisable, for example, to walk around the tent before going to sleep.
- Dry, dismantle and pack
Before the tent is packed again, it should be dry. You can also hang up the tent completely erected, so nothing sticks to each other and all layers become dry.
