Human Trafficking in Halton awareness event held in Burlington
Self-esteem among young teens is at an all-time low thanks to online social media, making those teens especially vulnerable to sexual exploitation.
A room of approximately 50 community members heard that commentary Saturday (June 3) during a Human Trafficking in Halton awareness event held at the Mainway Recreation Centre auditorium in Burlington."
This is why we’re doing this event… So that if victims come to you, you know what to do and where to direct them for help and support,” Alma Arguello, SAVIS of Halton executive director, also told the crowd.
“It’s very important to have forums like this, a place where we can share awareness and information on how to contact all the support groups and services that are out there.”
