There is discussion going on over whether Canada should put King Charles III on its currency, or go with other people instead. Do Canadians want my suggestions on the subject? Almost certainly not!
Still, here are some great Canadians vastly more deserving than King Charles. My judgment on this is completely unbiased, and - of course - has NOTHING to do with where these particular individuals made their careers. COMPLETELY unbiased, I tell you!
Bobby Orr: Possibly the greatest player ever in Canada's national sport. Certainly the greatest defenseman of all time. Only defenseman ever to lead the NHL in points (and he did it twice).
Phil Esposito: Broke numerous NHL scoring records. Canada's top scorer in the famed 1972 Summit series. As the saying goes, "Jesus saves, and Esposito scores on the rebound!"
Ray Bourque: All-time NHL leader in points by a defenseman. Five time Norris trophy winner. Canada's top defenseman in multiple international competitions. Also, a Francophone native of Quebec. The choice will surely be popular in that province. How could it not be?
William Shatner/Captain Kirk: Icon of the greatest science fiction/fantasy franchise of the last 60 years. It's time Canada's outsize contribution to SF and fantasy was recognized on its currency.
