Let's Take a Hike Around Riverside Trail Whistler Mountain

in canada •  7 years ago

The skyline is hazy due to the forest fire 250km away on the other side of the mountain.

What a beautiful trail in British Columbia, Canada. Spent 2 nights at Whistler Village this week. Dirt cheap rates since the smoky haze made for rough scenic shots of mountains.

Up close it's ok for photos.

It was an easy hike probably about intermediate level, the trail is a part of a series of trails that follow along the Cheakamus River. We did one of loops which was probably 4-5km, didn't use a map so I'm not certain. Taking time and checking out everything of interest it took a few leisurely hours.

The water is ice cold moving fast enough to sweep me away should I fall in. But I couldn't resist dipping my feet in for a new experience. First time wadding in glacial water fresh from the top of mountain.

This small suspension bridge was really wobbly and fun to bounce on. I know I shouldn't jump or hang from the wires and I promise I won't do it again... on this bridge.

The air still felt fresh even with the smokiness compared to a nasty smog day in Dalian. No sounds of cars or cities; just the rapids and the other occasional hiker passing by, there weren't many though.

Hiking is fun in the wilderness especially when with a hiking partner. Never hike alone.

Well off to Ontario. A whole new adventure is up ahead in a very different part of the country. Stay tuned.

nice adventure, the view is so beautiful. I wish being there to enjoy every moment

I dont think anybody could come and not love it here. You would too, some bears in the area if you dont mind real wildlife sightings.

Now I know where all those fires in Canada I've been hearing about on the news are. :p Do you know when that park was set aside/constructed by any chance?

Im nkt sure how old this part is but ski lodge parts i think have been around since the 70s.

Great place. When I'm Steem rich i will buy a chalet here.

Cool, many of our parks were built during the Great Depression by Civilian Conservation Corp workers. Sometimes I forget how new Canada is infrastructure wise. I think you have to buy chalets in Quebec though. :p

I see a lot of posts of people visiting different places, I must say however, this looks to me like the place I would like to go to the most. Love the vastness of this landscape, and living in China I also love getting away from the smog and go into the wild:)

Its such a treat to get out of a Chinese city for a summer month. But with fire not far away the air quality is actually worse.

Let's hope the fire doesn't get worse, these days with climate change it seems to occurring more and more often ...

That is true. Some news reports said the fires are worse than last time because we don't let them burn out, we fight them. And when we do that we actually make it worse when the next fire comes around. Kind of a Catch 22.

I can see what you are saying, that's a hard call to make then for sure !

Oh nice! The bridge looks bit spooky tho 😁

It was very wobbly bridge. No fear, i trusted it would hold even while jumping in it. Lol

Incredible trail! Must have been a great hike. Canada has amazing trails, I've heard. Goes on my bucket list for sure!

Any type of Canadian wilderness adventure should be on your bucket list. Hope you make it some day and post the Hell out of it on steemit got my vote.

That I will DEFINITELY do! :) Thanks!

This looks like a great place for a hike. You owe me an apology for not taking me with.

I'm deeply sorry for not inviting you. And the only reason I didn't invite you is because I didn't know you wanted to go . Next time!

Looks like just my type of place to visit. I could imagine it a little like the Blue Mountains in Australia in the opposite side of the world.
