The Montreal Canadiens missed a three-goal lead over the Maple Leafs on Saturday night in Toronto, where they finally lost 6-3.

It was Zach Hyman who scored the winning goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation time. Andreas Johnsson and Hyman completed the work for the home team by scoring in a deserted net.

The Canadiens had started the match in force, scoring three goals in just under six minutes in the first period.

Andrew Shaw was the first to hit the target. Tomas Tatar then doubled his lead by scoring his 21st goal of the season.

Shortly after, while Travis Dermott was in jail, Jeff Petry shook the ropes in his turn.

The Maple Leafs started the second period in better terms. They mainly took advantage of two penalties to the Canadian to reduce the gap to one goal in the median period.

Auston Matthews scored his team on the scoreboard with his 29th win of the campaign. Tyler Ennis struck in turn at the end of the match.

William Nylander raised the crowd in the third period, creating a tie with his fourth goal of the season.

Frederik Andersen faced 35 shots in the net for the Leafs. Carey Price lost four times on 37 shots.

Affected by a virus, Jonathan Drouin was not in training on the Canadian side. Nicolas Deslauriers took his place.

This victory allows the Maple Leafs to increase their lead to five points ahead of the Habs in the Atlantic section.
