Perpetual Indoor/Outdoor Grow Journal #16: Cat Drench Day

in cannabis •  7 years ago

Today it was cat drench time for my autos. The moment was about right as they've started producing trichs recently, and have been flowering for almost two weeks. So I grabbed them and soaked them really well with my own #organic #highbrix cocktail 🌊 🌾 🎇

In general, I haven't got any problems so far. The autos don't really care much about the photoperiod, so I can keep vegging the other plants in the same tent.

The smells being produced so far are interesting, but nothing very exciting. Auto Gorilla OG has this sweet hazelnut thing going on, and Auto Pounder is giving off a flowery/citrusy and gasoline/piss aroma. Smell-wise I prefer the latter one ATM.

Early buddding is not very robust, but this changes when they go deeper into bloom. All auto journals I've seen, that produced monster autos were hydro though, so I wouldn't count on miracles here.

And when you grow weed organically, you intervene only when your plants can benefit. Otherwise you just let them feed themselves 🐛 🌾

Group shot with White Querkle in veg (at the top). She'll be sent to bloom when I finish with autos, and have the other ones ready.

Zoom on White Querkle, which is growing three tops now. They are quite easy to bend, so LST should be a piece of cake with this plant

A cat drench, which is a short for cationic drench... a kind of feeding that's used in #highbrix growing around early/mid to flowering to push the production of sugars as well as secondary metabolites.

Dutch Kush (upcanned recently), Sensi Star and White Querkle dud enjoying the sun on my windowsill. Quite slow growers, especially SS, which is a really difficult plant to grow organically, but we're gonna get there in a few weeks 😝

@conradino23 those look soo pretty... your gonna have a blast smoking em'... Beautiful pictures..

Thank you. My 2nd experience with autos after many years :)

I hope someday even we get to grow some for ourselves here.. thanks for an informative post, love reading about ways & techniques of growing absolutely anything..

What light cycle are you running the autos under? Cause what I’ve seen in journals anything less then 18 hours is a waste of time with them.

18/6, but I heard 24/0 is optimal. I have the other 2 planted outdoor, so it'll be interesting to compare them with their indoor sisters. More root space should compensate for shorter photoperiod. I'm gonna visit them tomorrow :)

Yeah ive seen people on here grow them on a 12/12 and im like whattttttt??? lol What i really want to know if the potency is there. Cant wait till that time comes.

Obviously I won't be able to run a lab on it, but I'll say what it does for me :)

I'll write a smoke report when all is said and done!

Guess i need to do a smoke report on my recent harvest. I really suck on that. Maybe ill go on 420 magazine to get some examples.

You'll find a lot of good examples there :)

Yeah and i guess if i write about it more ill get better. Just like with my grow. Man i used to post some serious shit. Basically was posting like instagram. One pic, with just one dumb caption. Like fire, bomb, marijuana, etc etc etc, lol

So i think i have the question of the day here for the master.

If i used my SAnta Rita male to back cross the two different phenos of the SAnta Rita females will the offspring be the same strain from both females? Or will both females create a different strain from each one?

Backcrossing two different genotypes to their mother is not an outcross, but narrowing gene pool. But you're gonna end up with two different lines, cause you're using unstable mother and unstable offspring. Saying this BC1 or 1st generation backcross in both cases will still express a lot of similarities due to shared lineage. It's really a die roll in the end as results are unpredictable.

You just planted 0.48 tree(s)!
