The people of Mississippi previously voted for cannabis change in 2020 by approving of a measure that would legalize medicinal cannabis for the region.
Once established, their medicinal market would allow for those with at least one of 22 different medical conditions to apply for medical marijuana status.
But despite being passed last year there are still some issues with the current legislation relating to cannabis.
There is one lawmaker who is looking to help clear that up with a newly filed bill. If passed that bill would establish grounds for legal medicinal cardholders to be able to obtain valid registration for medicinal cannabis, and they would be able to make regulated purchases without being subject to arrest. The bill was recently passed and now heads to the House.
Even though they might approve of cannabis legalization in 2020 it could still be years away yet before they see a fully established market.
Those cannabis changes are also being challenged in the region, by critics who say they were unconstitutional and should be tossed out for that reason. But what seems more unconstitutional than anything is trying to tell any individual how they should live their life as far as what natural substances they might use for healing or finding remedy to a taxing health condition.
If they are being peaceful and keeping to themselves, then they should be left alone. If there is no victim to their actions then they shouldn't be deemed a criminal in need of locking up. Those who want to continue with cannabis criminalization are saying they want to do just that, bring harm to patients and peaceful individuals living in their community. It's time to stop policing people's natural liberty and individual rights in this manner. The people in this region have made it clear that they are tired of the war on cannabis there and they want change.
