Oregon just harvested a 1/2 POUND of Cannabis per resident & Prices crash!

They just harvested and cured about 2 million pounds of outdoor weed down in Oregon state, another bumper year!

This is causing prices to plummet, according to this article.

Word on the street last year had prices of nice ounces going for $50 USD, so I imagine it's closer to $30 now, and still falling.

Some people are concerned about "the industry collapsing". I think they just don't understand economics. Falling prices aren't a bad sign, if the cause is increased supply. Falling prices are a bad sign if the cause is falling demand, but that's clearly not the case. Sales are up dramatically year after year in Oregon.

Cannabis can be grown almost for nothing. Really good cannabis can be grown very affordably, especially if you're willing to put your love into the plants. With the sun beaming down on your garden month after month, any decent gardener will be able to turn out plenty of high-quality bud.

I'm not saying it's simple, or that everyone can do it, because that's definitely not the case. I'm saying nobody should be paying even $50 USD per ounce. $20 is probably still too much. When you really get rid of prohibition, including all the overregulation and taxes and government red tape, cannabis prices approach zero.

It's a good thing!

Free market, bitches!

Prices should come down for cannabis all across the world. Waaaay down!

Yumm, nice colours on those buds! I want a sniff :)

Hmmmm, supply is up, and so is demand. Sounds like a healthy market!
Hopefully in Vancouver and everywhere else the price falls. Legalization isn't decriminalization, so who knows!

Looks nearly as nice as mine. :)
