How To Set Up A Cheap Hydroponic GrowsteemCreated with Sketch.

Hey guys just wanted to make another post on another method of growing cannabis, which can allow you to have bigger yields, and grow stronger weed. Hydroponic systems are usually quite expensive to set up, how ever a single plant system can be set up with just a bucket and a cheap pump.

So to make this you can first get a large container with a lid some thing like this one below would be perfect, although if your wanting to do a micro grow then you can allows just use something smaller like a coffee tin. In a coffee tin the roots would not be able to grow as big this would result in smaller plant.

Next you will need some type of air pump, an aquarium oxygen pump will probably work great for this. These can be bought on Ebay and Amazon for around £7. When buying one it would probably be best to get one with long tubing which is able to reach down to the bottom of the bucket.
Heres a link to a cheap oxygen pump I found which would work great for this:

Next attach the pump to the side of the bucket, then drill a hole in the top of the bucket to put the pipe into the water. An oxygen pump is needed in a hydroponic grow to give oxygen to the roots of the plant, without this the roots would rot away.
Next you will need to acquire some Rockwool and a mesh pot, this is what you will be planting the seed into.

Next using a sharp knife cut a circular hole in the bucket/ coffee cans lid and insert the Mesh pot and Rockwool into the top of the container. Next all is left to do is plant out the seedling, put your nutrience of choice into the water, and turn on the pump. I would also like to add that this method of growing is best suited to growing indoors doors.

I Love DWC (Deep Water Culture)

Over the 15+ years I've used it, I've noticed a few things which can be added here. These make your experience much less frustrating. ;)

  • Your nutrient solution must be between 65F and 69F for the fewest hassles with biological activity and root rot.
  • Airpump size should be a minimum of 1 Liter per minute of air, per gallon of water, or 3 watts of airpump wattage for every 10 gallons of water.
  • Cannabis is an accumulator plant, so using nutrients which are not pharmaceutical grade, or which are not properly balanced for cannabis will reduce quality. Cannabis is pretty good at accumulating heavy metals, commonly found in AG and cheap nutrients. (Most plants don't absorb them, so nobody cares. Cannabis does, so be aware.) :D
  • Keep your nutrient solution the same level, topping off with fresh water once a day. When roots adapt to no water, and then are soaked for a while, they tend to rot. ;)
  • Airstones are better than open lines, and science agrees

Cannabis LOVES Deep Water Culture!

Go Be Awesome! :D

chears for the feed back man that will help a lot as have only just set up my first hydroponic system so still quite new to this form of growing

My Pleasure! :D

icmag.com has a lot of growers in the UK. Hop on over there and start reading. :D

Also do a search for "Ask Lucas" and read the entire thread a hundred or two hundred times. There are gold nuggets of information in that thread. Combined with how cannabis is an accumulator (look up hyperaccumulator and phytoremediation), you'll be way ahead of most growers in no time. :)
