Cleaning out my grinder and collecting all the Kief - Bonus Hand Hash #394

From time to time i need to give my old grinder a good cleaning. I do this around once every month and the contents get saved for making pollen pucks later on. I have a 4 part grinder which is like a normal 3 part grinder with the addition of a fine sieve on the bottom of the 3 part that lets the finest pieces of pollen fall into the 4th part. This fine dust is known as kief and is the cream of the milk.

Had Gordon the grinder for maybe 3 years now

What is Kief?

Kief is a super concentrated form of weed and is basically a byproduct of marijuana buds. Normal buds will contain 12-20% THC, good kief will contain closer to 60-70%. Each bud contains tiny trichomes containing THC, these can be seen under a x30 - x60 loop and look like mushrooms. They can be collected by using a standard grinder with a filtration screen built in tate allows the tiny tichomes to fall to the bottom chamber and be collected. Pure kief will be golden in colour and strong is hell, normal kief from a grinder like mine will have some plant matter in there and have a dark sand colour but so very potent. After collected you can do few things with it. Alot of people like to spinkle it into spliffs, bongs are pipes ontop of bud to give an extra kick. Some will add it to coffee and dissolve it. I like to collect mine up for a year are two and make small hockey plugs using a pollen press. I make 1 gram pucks and they get me on my ass when i smoke them through Betty the bong.

Here is were the pay dirt is. You can see at around 2 o clock i have pressed in a bit to show how thick this stuff is caked on. This always best part and for some reason collects the finest stuff as well.

After a quick going over with a few different sized flathead screwdrivers from a spare PC repair kit i have my grinder cleaned out and around 1.1 grams of kief. Here is each pile from each different part of the grinder.

The parts that contained the grinder teeth contained normal ground bud, enough for a really nice morning spliff. The middle chamber contained really good stuff and lots of it, the still contains a tiny bit of plant matter as it has not passed through the filter but it looks and acts the same. The bottom chamber gave the small pile but this is the honey of the hive.

Here is Gordon cleaned. He looks almost the same but he has lost some weight. I have boiled previous grinders and it worked really well until the filter screens started comes off. The hot water melted the glue that held them in place so now i just scrape them out using really small flat head screwdrivers

Bonus Picture

Here is some hand hash. This is rolled from your fingers when harvesting the plants. As your hands get covered in THC oils during the process, you are able to rub your fingers together and form a ball with it. Set your balls somewhere to dry out for a few days and then smoke that shit.
