Silica/Liquid-Silicon? How This Amendment/Additive Can Be Beneficial AND a Quality Killer!
Benefits of Silica/Liquid-Silicon
There are a number of benefits to using Silica or Liquid-Silicon in a grow, let me list the main ones growers of cannabis will be interested in.
Super Strong Branches
Any grower who's amended their soil with silica or added liquid silicon to the root zone has found what a benefit it can be.
Super Strong Vascular Tissue
During peak flower, the cannabis plant transports a massive amount of water through the process of transpiration. Vascular tissue is responsible for transporting all of this water and nutrients, the stronger these tissues are, the higher rates they can supply and stay healthy.
Pest Resistance
Silicon permeates every cell of the cannabis plant, increasing strength to levels difficult for insects to bite/pierce.
Drought/Heat Resistance
Silicon helps cannabis tolerate lower humidity and higher temperatures.
Silica/Liquid-Silicon Destroys Quality in Flower
Whether you're using silica amendments or liquid-silicon products, the use during flower is a huge killer of quality. Silicon is used in the production of microchips, not quality cannabis.
Frangibility
Cannabis flowers are highly frangible, meaning they break into small fragments of frosty, yummy goodness using only a gentle pressure. When silicon is present during flower, cannabis uses that material to make strong flowers. Flowers that burn hotter and harsher and, in extreme cases, have reduced oil production.
Reaching for a grinder or scissors? There's a good chance it was grown with silica or liquid-silicon during flower.
Proper Use is Awesome!
I use liquid-silicon in veg, because this builds extremely strong branches and vascular tissue systems.
I use liquid-silicon in the first mixing of my no-dump, dwc flower run but not enough to be present once budset/stretch is finished.
Pure Awesome! :)

Anyone have a 'Dull' grinder from so much use with tough cannabis? :D
