Ford VS Chevy
Big debate since before most of us on here were even born. Ford lovers say Ford all the way. And the new GT is a beautiful car. But don't try to convince the Chevy fanboys any of that nonsense.
Ford GT
The new GT model is amazing. Looks great and has awesome power coming from the tuned EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 engine that cranks out 647 horses. It looks like a supercar and it has the price of a supercar, starting at around $450 000. Quite a lot of money for a car. So it comes with exclusivity and bragging rights for the owner. But it is a V6, and usually the V6 version of an American sports car is reserved for the lower end model. Why did Ford do this with their flagship car. They've practically ruined the racing heritage of the GT. The GT40 was a car that originally was meant to beat the Ferrari after a deal between Ford and Ferrari went south. Ford almost bought the Italian company, until Ferrari backed out at the last moment. Ford was furious and wanted to prove that they could build a race car to rival the Italians and they did just that. A big V8 motor, a design by Shelby, and a whole lot of horse power. Why change something so beautiful.
Chevy Corvette
The Corvette has heritage of its own. But it isn't the Italian supercar rival sort of heritage. It is more of a Grand Tourer that was fun to drive and made you happy. The first Corvette in 1953 came out with a V6 engine. It was convertible and it was cool. In the next model Chevy fitted a big V8. The V8 and the Corvette were a match made in heaven so they are always seen together. There is no cheap V6 or 4 cylinder version, you either get a V8 or a V8 with a supercharger. How awesome is that. There are many trims to choose from, unlike the GT. You can get the 755 horsepower beast or 455 naturally aspirated version, both of which will keep the smile on your face from the moment you step in. It also comes in a lot cheaper, starting at $55 000 to fully loaded versions coming in at around $125 000. With a faster 0-60 time and a top speed just a few miles shy of the GT I think that the Corvette is the best bang for the buck, not just between these two but on the market as a whole.
