Hey guys,
my love for music does not end with composing, I also love listening to (even) music of others;)
Doing so, I fit nice speakersystems or big woofers into every car I own. For I love cars similar to loving music, this combines both of my passions.
This is a photostory on how I build speakerhousings from some medium-density fiberboard which has some structure on it because it was a leftover from a carpenter who gave it for free. Those are then fitted into the original doorcards of my Mercedes 190e 1.8 litres which is an absolutely beautiful car in my opinion. Listen to music in that one has always been a big pleasure.
So here is how i build it:
I am measuring out the size of the parts, then cutting them out and fitting and glueing them together to get the housing:
Now I am styling the housing with some filler material:
That's not nice yet, going to sand off some stuff:
Mhhh...still not good...so more grinding:
Wow, that's ok now!
Well, let's put glue on and upholster it with some synthetic leather:
And insert the speaker:
Take the speaker out again and screw the housing to the doorcard:
One cardboard finished:
Now quieten the door of the car with some bitumen paper (important for the door can make a rumbling noise when the loudspeaker plays loud):
Some new expensive plastic covers from the mercedes workshop will prevent water from getting in:
And finally it's done. A very nice time doing it and now I am up to some cruise with music on and the windows down.
I have appreciated you watching my story on building those speakerhousings! Thanks for upvoting, promoting and upfollowing. Perhaps you are interested in some other posts (f.ex. some selfmade music) of mine...see you next time!
