Today is workers day in South Africa and for almost everyone out of the retail sector a public holiday. This meant I'd get some much needed car maintenance time. Unfortunately it was cut very short as my daughter has now contracted mumps! Basically high fevers, runny nose, coughing and swelling of the face. We had never seen anything like this before so we immediately rushed for off to the emergency room at our local hospital.
It was probably our quickest hospital visit ever as there aren't any remedies for mumps, we just have to watch the fever and give her some pain killers for the swollen glands around for neck.
Anyway, it's been a horrible day and I had so much planned, I was however able to get 40+ minutes in the garage and replaced a badly joint 0 gauge cable I installed a while back and completely forgot about, because well, out of sight out of mind. Whoops!
I purchased a large 200amp fuse and holder to mend the join and installed it in the boot area.
It looks way better now and I seem to have fixed some small power surge issues I was having when idling. I suspect that the temporary join was causing the amperage to drop. All sorted now :)
Hopefully when my daughter is well again I can start doing some cool stuff in the garage, like installing the downpipe on the silver RX7 FD3S.
Today is labour day in India too..!!!
