Edit: I just found this recent post by @you-know-nothing about the Spirit of Ecstasy, check it out, https://steemit.com/cars/@you-know-nothing/cars-the-spirit-of-ecstasy-rolls-royce-by-charles-sykes

Nice information on hood ornaments, you learn something everyday! And that orange Pontiac is WOW, beautiful!

Yep, it occurred to me after I took these pictures that most people today don't see them and they become forgotten. The Pontiac was in very good shape for a 65 year old car!

I love that orange one, damn those thieves for making these no longer a popular thing.

And those old grannies getting run down all the time. Those jerks!

Excellent article and photos. Exciting spectacle! Thx!

Thanks :)

Really great photography. Thanks for the time and effort of putting this post together

You are most welcome, thank you for viewing!

That cracked orange chieftain head is brilliant. The designer of that ornament is a genius.

I had no idea they were made like this and agree that it is brilliant!

If you check out the Marland Grove link at the bottom, you can see that actually wasn't by design, but it still looks nice in the right light.

Yeah, you're right. I think the cracks made it look only much cooler though refracting the light within it.

Good photos and story! I like the car on the third photo!

amazing post and photos @pfunk

Thank you meteor78!

Thank you, Pfunk, for sharing. I haven't paid much attention to this detail. Since now I will )

The charm of the design and craftmanship of vintage cars is unique. When art and utility goes together like this, it is perfect

The lamp on the first picture is really beautifull

I love cars old and new. How could someone not click on this post? The pictures are stunning and amazing and it's hard not to admire the craftsmanship and beauty. Thanks for your insightful article. Upvoted and followed. I'm inspired to write a new short story now.

Nice hood ornaments @pfunk, I work at a car lot in Salt Lake City Ut and when we get a car that has ornaments like these we have to park it in the back so the ornament doesn't get stolen.

Thats a beautiful car and a great article. This got me thinking, its not just hood ornaments, cars today don't have the beautiful chrome and stainless steel accents either. Sadly cars today are just metal and plastic, the soul is gone.

Thanks timbot606. I think chrome on today's cars has to be judiciously used. That might just be because it's expensive to properly use it without it looking cheap though.

Ornamentation has gone by the wayside everywhere. Just compare the furniture at an antique store to the stuff at Ikea. In architecture it is most pronounced, and easy to see unless you live in a new suburban city. Old houses and buildings, even the most basic and utilitarian ones, used to have some amount of ornamentation and craftsmanship put into them.

Hoho, wonderful photos @pfunk! Never seen this variety.

Thanks!
