Audi Q5 Full Road Test & Review | Planet Auto

in cars •  6 years ago  (edited)

The Audi Q5 is one of an array of mid sized premium SUVs on the market today with the likes of Mercedes and BMW offering up some tough competition.

The Audi Q5 starts at £38,975 with a range of engines to choose from, however the model we tested was £53,970 with 2.0L TDI engine and quattro all wheel drive.

Over the week we had a chance to get to grips with the car, we traveled over one thousand miles from the Lake District to the Cotswolds and tackling the day to day tasks from the commute to transporting friends and family around.

We take a look at the practicality, functionality, what it’s like to drive and then answer the big question... Is this the car for you?

Completely overpriced car. Italian automotive best journal tested one at 80K euros, and it wasn't even full optionals.
The list of package and stuff to be payed it's just absurd, as it is to pay for a proper climate or a BLIS system in 2018 on a luxury car.
And what about the fact that the basic model and the top notch share the same plastic? Come on... @planetauto

Not when compared to the competition, it’s priced similarly - what did you think of the model you drove, was it quattro ?

I hadn't the opportunity to drive one yet. It seems to be the most balanced and best in driving dinamycs, yet I still think that doesn't stand out as an SUV in one direction.
Compare it to the XC60, the base equipment of the Volvo is just on another level (like the Sensus as as a standard) and with the Inscription model you get optionals that costs thousands and thousands of money in the Audi (full leather ventilated massaged seats and so on).
I just feel that the upmarket luxury SUV, mid to big size, has a lot more rivals than before, when it was basically Germans-or-bust.

Most certainly, take the Stelvio, amazing machine, Volvo make some very versatile machines, interested in driving the XC40 - the interior on the Q5 was outstanding luxurious and very comfortable, quattro is very good and I do prefer the new shape, rounded works better. Currently got a Jeep Renegade that’s fun, luxurious and quite capable too. The more SUVs the better chance of greater choice at good prices.
