The year was 2018 it was the month of April we were slowly building our Instagram account as well as our YouTube and other social media accounts.

Now I was weighing up the best way to make it grow or help it grow I should say, and an idea popped into my head, why not contact people on Instagram, inform them about our YouTube channel and ask if they would be interested in checking us out.

In essence follow for follow but I never saw it like that...doh. I reached out to probably a handful of Instagrammers that I liked their content, thinking back it wasn't the best strategy, we no longer do that and we literally did it for about a day to.

We thought no we don't like this, we need an audience that enjoy finding our content using the correct channels which is the car reviews.

One of the people I reached out to was a guy called Matt of Matt's Beamer, originally this was a blatant follow for follow strategy which as I said I didn't really realise, I just thought all car people like car content, this is perfect a win-win.

I reached out wondering if anyone would respond, now this was a time when Planet Auto had very few subscribers, under 500 I reckon, to put this in context in this last year we've gained just under 3000 all organically which is quite mind blowing.

Matt had just over 500 subs, I'd checked out Matts Insta, Fb etc and liked what he did, I then went over and checked out Matt's YouTube channel which was aptly named Matts Beamer, I was getting the idea that he maybe liked BMW cars and sure enough most of his content was targeted at the Bavarian motors.

His videos had that something, walkarounds and reviews etc yet more content like helpful tutorial videos, model information etc there was also the odd review of other cars for example Limited edition Porsche Cayman, even a Ford Focus.

We started to chat regularly on Instagram and then connected on Facebook and we always supported each other and it wasn't the like for like anything like that it was just meaningful comments when there was a video that piqued our interest.

It wasn't long before we started chatting regularly on Facebook and we became very good friends and sometime later I met Joseph of Lloyd vehicle consulting and there was three of us and we now have our own YouTube group YouTube group is that the word YouTube anyway.

We all got on well and chatted regularly now the interesting thing is, this was all virtual because Matt lives in Moscow, Russia he is actually from Dahn Sauf, yes that's Down South as in England, he moved to Russia where he lives with his wife Alla and their daughter Elizabeth.

After this Christmas he's going be heading over to the UK so will get to meet him face-to-face, all three of us car kindered spirits.

If you like BMW's you should really check out his content it is very good, it has production value, humour and knowledge, it's interesting and it is well made and Matt really knows his cars.

MattsBeamer is also on Steem which he jumped on as soon as I mentioned it, https://steemit.com/@mattsbeamer

It didn't take long to convince Matt to join the crypto blogging platform and he jumped on it, which was great to see because so many people don't seem to see the strengths and benefits of being part of this community which I don't get.

We've had support since day one and we get more and more now and with that you can then give support to others.

There you go that's how I met Matt he's an extremely valuable friend, knowledgeable, supportive and genuine and that's what you realise when you get older you get you may have had thousands of friends when you were younger, how many of those ones actually resonate with you, you can likely count on one hand.

Please check out Matts YouTube and support yet another great automotive content creator on Steemit.

Thank you

I know, it'll be quite a day both Matt and I will Steem about, and maybe even video about, thank you.

Hey Ben! Thank you so much for this wonderful story about how we met. Meeting you and Joseph through youtube is more valuable than making money online (not that I make any lol). It’s hard to find good friends. I’m looking forward to Janurary :)take care!!

As are Annabelle and I, thank you Matt, yes friendships like these are precious.

That’s very true Ben. Hi to Annabelle for me :)
