Brace yourselves, this isn't a driving through fields and tracks over loose shale, yes there are those bits, mind you how else do you get to the gnarly bits?

First a little about the 2019 Jimny, all models come with a 1.5 petrol engine and you can choose between a 5 speed or auto.

The fun bit, this off roader has a raised ride height, descent control and of course a low range gearbox and is built on a ladder chassis like all worthy 4x4's.

We set off into the Lake District, near Grizedale, and started off light to find our feet, the Jimny drives exceptionally well offroad needing little to no acceleration in low, even over the toughest of terrain, and as you'll see can overcome even the roughest of terrains.

Get ready for some real off roading and remember to watch after the guys stop chatting, you'll see a 5 minute video of everything we experienced on the Bypass open to all traffic, in a word an old style Green Lane.

The Jimny is immense off road and will give a Land Rover Defender a good run for it's money, and we were on road tyres.

Thank you, were you surprised by it's capabilities?

No as I used to own a 1979 Jimmy and it was hugely capable glad the new one is to :)

Interesting to know even the early ones with far smaller engines could do this and more.

It might have been slow on road but get it off road and it was unstoppable and keep up with anything.

We would love to have seen that, thank you.

I may post it up sometime :)

I wouldn't think it could do all this... Great little off-road.
And thanks for this very good video to show us all the possibilities of Jimmy.

Thank you for the kind words, we were pleasantly surprised, it’s amazing to think what it would be able to do with a set of off-road tyres.
