Need the war on drugs/victimless crimes. Without the war on drugs the prices of drugs would quickly fall and their profits would go down. If Budweiser could start selling marijuana or cocaine tomorrow, a huge revenue source for the violent cartels would dry up. They'd lose pretty much all of their revenue and go out of business.
They need strong border control so that it's more profitable. If anyone can bring drugs across the border, it is more competition for the cartels. They need governments to continue making free trade harder and harder and to make it extremely hard for people to cross the borders as well.
Need gun control in poor regions (e.g. Mexico) to disarm the citizenry and to control the local good people. Much easier to run a cartel when nobody can defend themselves against the cartel. Without gun control the cartels would lose a huge advantage they currently have of being able to enslave local populations that they take over. They have to have strong gun control laws so that they can continue to keep local control in poorer countries. Same applies to the Taliban and other terrorists.
Cartels are driven almost 100% exclusively by government regulations, mandates, and edicts. Without government disarming local populations, without government giving drug sale monopolies to the cartels, and without strong border control, the cartels would end up going out of business altogether.
A truly free society would drive away all of these harmful, cartel protecting laws and make it so cartels are pretty much impossible to maintain.
As long as you support government war on drugs, strong government borders, and strong gun control laws, you're a supporter of the most murderous cartels!
