I was disturbed to observe these days that the frogs from the Tasek Chini have been singing. They have almost disappeared. This won't seem odd to you. In fact, you can now no longer have any concept of what Tasek Chini is. After all, it "turned into" a lovely massive mass of freshwater lake within the tropical forests of Malaysia. It "became" as it is no longer as lovely as it once was, with pollution levels reportedly fifty-six times higher than what is considered healthy, and worse, this is proper within the tropical jungle.
The frogs aren't the only ones disappearing. The fish, cobras, and pythons are also diminishing in numbers. Weeds known as "Cat’s Tail" have proliferated, snuffing out essential daylight that might permit organisms to grow.
This is traumatic enough for a few concrete steps to be taken to restore the surroundings. In retrospect, how can movement be taken to defend the environment, or sensitive surroundings, which include Tasek Chini, or another lake within the world?
Here at Tasek Chini, I study approximately the Sustainable Development Network or SUSDEN, that's walking the Save Tasik Chini Campaign due to the fact that August 2004, and those are remedial steps taken with the aid of using the government and non-government firms in live performance to step the decline:
- Collect and get rid of fallen timber and weeds that choke the lake.
- reduce pollution from newly advanced education camps for National Service that have been built near the lake.
- Reduce commercial pollutants from nearby oil palm estates, which transport fertilizers and insecticides into the lake.
- Prevent illegal logging activities near the lake. 5. disallow the commencement of land in the wooded area close to the lake.
- introducing programs to assist the aborigines known as Jakun who live in the lakes' surrounding areas so that they can stay there with their traditional assets, which are linked to biodiversity conservation.
The most important thing is to teach children about the importance of the lake and to introduce them to the way of life of the aborgines who live on the land surrounding the lake. These aborigines lived in harmony with the animals, vegetation, and surroundings and ensured the survival of the lake.
Now, in case you do have a lake near your place in which you're living, make sure that the frogs still sing. Frogs are an amazing barometer of the environment. Frogs are declining because of habitat destruction, contamination, predation, and genetic pollution. Will the frogs sing once more at Tasek Cini? We do no longer understand yet, but there's one component we do understand. Irrespective of where we are, if we store the frogs, we can be capable of storing our lives too
