Hey Steemers,
I've been offline for a while, I had such a busy week!
Me and my buddy Teun made sure we were well prepared for world animal day (we took a lot of naps to be well rested), and we celebrated the day itself in style! (by doing our favorite thing, napping). After the big event we needed some time to recover (again, by taking some naps). It was a great week..
Anyway, yesterday i was lying under my favorite rose bush....
OK, ok, it wasn't a rosebush, it was a fuchsia, i just wanted to use the analogy for my story today.
My servants (woops i meant owners) used to love using flower scented shower gel, shampoo, body lotion and other products from well known brands like Dove, Johnson&Johnson, Palmolive, Schwarzkopf. These brands are available in local drug stores, are not too expensive and claim to sell products that are relaxing, nourishing for your skin, and so on.
These multi nationals that are making millions of dollars are not telling you one thing though.
They are still performing animal tests on their products. That means that thousands of rabits, monkeys, mice and other animals are made to suffer on a daily basis, just so these companies can claim that their products are 'safe' for humans.
Luckily, animal testing on cosmetics is forbidden in Europe. However that does not hold back a lot of cosmetics manufacturers to still perform animal testing on their products (they just do somewhere where it is still legal).
Also, in China all cosmetics are tested on animals before they are sold. So products from a company that does not perform animal testing, but exports to China, are still tested on animals in China before they are sold there!
What's up with that people, doesn't it want to make you scratch some eyes out?!!!
The stupid thing is that there are plenty of good alternatives for testing on animals (computer simulations, in vitro cell cultures)! Testing on animals is not even reliable sometimes, because animals can react to substances differently than humans!
I told my servants that i did not want those products in my house any longer. So they started doing some investigation and it turns out that there are a lot of alternatives for the products that they were using that are cruelty free. There are a lot of good internet sites, set up by people who already investigated this, that list the brands that DO and DO NOT test on animals.
In the Netherlands we have https://naoki.nl/. This website has a lot of good information on cruelty free products, and also lists who is not cruelty free.
So folks, please take another look at the cosmetic products you are using! You might have never realized that your lovely daycream, refreshing after shave or energysing bath oil is causing animals to suffer terrible pain, being kept in cages under horrific circumstances, and just be treated like they are non-living things by humans that do not give a damn!
For more information you can also check the peta website:

They even have a list of certified cruelty free cosmetics companies.
Just needed to get that off my hairy chest.
O, before i stop for my afternoon nap: please upvote my post, all my steem will go to charity:
